New route through Strathblane for John Muir Way

New route through Strathblane for John Muir Way

29 January 2018

The John Muir Way has a new route through Strathblane. The route has been changed to make use of a new section of multi-use path which was upgraded in 2016 by Strathblane Community Development Trust with funding from Scottish Water. This new link in the local path network offers improved multi-use access at this section of the John Muir Way by avoiding a set of muddy steps on the former route beside Milndavie Glen. Funding to waymark the new route of the John Muir Way was provided by Scottish Natural Heritage. If travelling west to east on the John Muir Way, the route now drops down from the Gowk Stane Track as it approaches Strathblane, taking a route past the local allotments, and along the old railway line path to enter the village. This section of the John Muir Way offers splendid views of the Campsie Fells and Strathblane Hills. Mapping on the John Muir Way website has been updated with the new route.
